Today I'm going to help you say words relating to the face. I'm using the Oxford Learners Dictionary as my reference.
Since I'm going to say and write the plural forms for the words below, let me share with you some rules here.
Rule 1: For nouns ending with a hard sound / b d g v l m n ɳ ð /, the plural 's' will be pronounced as /z/.
e.g. chi Advanced n / tʃı:n / chins / tʃı:nz /
Rule 2: For nouns ending with a soft sound / f k p t ɵ /, the plural 's' will be pronounced as / s /
e.g. lip / lıp / lips / lıps /
Rule 3: For nouns ending with a vowel sound, the plural 's' will be pronounced as /z/.
e.g. eye / aı / eyes / aız /
Rule 4: For nouns ending with / s z ʃ ʧ dʒ /, the plural 'es' will be pronounced as / ız /.
e.g. eyelash / aılæʃ / eyelashes / aılæʃız /
Take note that there are some acceptable variations in the pronunciations below.
For example you can use / ız / or / əz / for 'es' .
